Back at 1957 a small seafood restaurant/coffee shop opens at the small Paphos harbour by the name Aphrodite (Venus), mainly to serve the fishermen and the few dockers who were working at the ships anchoring at the Paphos moorings. It was 1967 when an exhausted stranger washed ashore, right off the harbour. It was a handsome pelican, really tired by his migration flight and was carried by the fishermen at Aphrodite restaurant.
Went to pelican tonight for a treat. Immediately was ushered to a table and within two minutes had ordered our food and drinks. We went for the seafood platter for two. This included squid. Over the years I have ate squid in many different restaurants and most were over cooked and chewy, this was tubed squid and not calamari and was lightly cooked to perfection. There were alot of locals there too. And they only go to the best places. Overall excellent service, quality and value for money. Certainly worth trying out. I would highly recommend.

Great Atmosphere and Seafood
We had a lovely seat by the water for two, great atmosphere in the restaurant and a friendly, efficient waitress. I had Seabream and my partner had Seabass both were plentiful, tasty and cooked to perfection- really good quality fish. Sides were plentiful too, so much so we couldn’t manage a pudding. Best fish we had all holiday would definitely return. Extra bonus to my surprise there was a live Pelican in the restaurant, incredible to see up close, seemed quite content wandering around and could freely fly off at any time.

We will be back!
The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The staff were very friendly, generous and lovely to chat to. The service was faultless and food arrived promptly. The Restaurant is positioned in an idyllic location on the water front. We will defiantly be back again!
