The Pelican Restaurant & Cafe Paphos

Discover Our Story

Back at 1957 a small seafood restaurant/coffee shop opens at the small Paphos harbour by the name Aphrodite (Venus), mainly to serve the fishermen and the few dockers who were working at the ships anchoring at the Paphos moorings. It was 1967 when an exhausted stranger washed ashore, right off the harbour. It was a handsome pelican, really tired by his migration flight and was carried by the fishermen at Aphrodite restaurant.

The best place for fresh fish
Went to pelican tonight for a treat. Immediately was ushered to a table and within two minutes had ordered our food and drinks. We went for the seafood platter for two. This included squid. Over the years I have ate squid in many different restaurants and most were over cooked and chewy, this was tubed squid and not calamari and was lightly cooked to perfection. There were alot of locals there too. And they only go to the best places. Overall excellent service, quality and value for money. Certainly worth trying out.
I would highly recommend.
